Pirates and Jurassic World, looking at the release dates, look to have been made alongside the 4th movie, but have 3 other movies to work on as info comes through about the 4th, you prove the mechanics and make the 4th movie last, even if this adds a bit of a time crunch at the end. So Star Wars fits all of these, Indy, LOTR.

The best adaptations seem to be: multiple movies (3+), movies that are already out, movies that have a large ensemble cast and are usually featuring a group of characters doing something together (so co-op works). This brings up some interesting points about games adapted from movies, and timelines.
